God gives gifts.
We respond heartily to gifts. Gifts declare we are "special" to the
giver. Gifts stimulate love between us. Life is lifeless
without gifts.
Some gifts are
essential -- proper food and clean water, fresh air,
laughter, friends, jobs, coffee -- for our physical and
emotional nature, others are more trivial -- finding a
penny on the road, reading a discarded newspaper while
we wait for someone.
Gifts are given
on birthdays, on anniversaries, on holidays. Rarely do
we get gifts on "regular" days. God has a gift for you
today, a "regular" day, and on "special days", for
tomorrow, for everyday, for the rest of your life.
Certainly, modern life can be tiresome, taking most of our time and
energy to deal with it.
We can easily forget about God
because we are focusing on the struggles of daily life,
even though God has a gift for us.

Start with ... I want a meaningful life.
Does DEATH ever pass away?

However, life doesn't always cooperate with me, since frustrating and some hurtful, even bad things happen to me and those I love.
The world seems chock-full of injustice to me and those I love. Innocent people are maimed -- example: Lady Diana brought attention to the landmine situation; poor children are not fed nor cared for -- example: the colossal poverty we see throughout the world; nations fight tirelessly, involving harmless citizens in great brutalities -- examples: World Trade Center attack, Bosnia, Somalia, Iraq-Kurds; the environment is polluted for profit -- examples: rain forest clearing, ocean dumping.
Life is sometimes tough for me, and it appears to be universally hard for most of the world.
I am just one person, I cannot deal with everyone else's problem. I try to live a decent, useful, effective live. I occasionally try to reward myself with just a few pleasures, so I can get the energy I need to "carry on". Naturally, I do things my way, because that's all anyone can do.
But, I admit life can get pretty empty at times, and I wonder if there is any true, permanent meaning to life.
I hear of this book or that program or the other life-style that is bound to "empower me" and "give me meaning". I wonder if they are true? Should I delve into them? Are my friends right when they point out "the right way" to focus my life?
Sometimes I just want "an understandable answer" to life's questions; I want "a true answer" about how to handle life's difficulties.
If you experience any of these feelings at any time, we hope you will seek further to answer them.
