Science and God.
Science, Life and Phenomena
Science explains the universe in such a way that confirms the evidence for God's existence.
Scientific studies point at God's existence, Scientific American, August, 1998, BEYOND PHYSICS, "renowned scientists contemplate the evidence for God":
There is a huge amount of data supporting the existence of God.
The question is how to evaluate it.
In recent decades, physicists have noticed that many of the fundamental constants of nature, from the energy levels in the carbon atom to the rate at which the universe is expanding to the four perceptible dimensions of space-time, are just right for life. Tweak any of them more than a tad, and life as we know it could not exist.
How is it that human's cognitive abilities greatly exceed the demands imposed by evolutionary pressures, so that we can perceive the quantum nature of the universe and map its cosmic features?
One possible explanation ... is that the universe was designed.
Time magazine, Dec. 28, 1992 says in SCIENCE, GOD AND MAN:
One intriguing observation that has bubbled up from physics is that the universe seems calibrated for life's existence.
If the force of gravity were pushed upward a bit, stars would burn out faster, leaving little time for life to evolve on the planets circling them.
If the relative masses of protons and neutrons were changed by a hair, stars might never be born, since the hydrogen they eat wouldn't exist.
If, at the Big Bang, some basic numbers, the initial conditions, had been jiggled, matter and energy would never have coagulated into galaxies, stars, planets or any other platforms stable enough for life as we know it.
And so on.
Some scientists interpret the universe in a manner that literally reflects God's creative work:
Some scientists say the universe started from extremely dense matter exploding, producing unimaginable light; but science does not know or explain where this matter came from; when pushed, some scientists say it possibly came from 'no where', OUT OF NOTHING.
God says the universe was created by the Lord Almighty, accompanied by light, out of nothing.
Some scientists say that life occurred mysteriously in the ancient past, and proliferated abundantly into a variety of species, plants and animals.
God says that life occurred due to the Lord Almighty's work, and that a great variety of species, plants and animals resulted from this.
Some scientists say people have unique skills and capabilities which other plants and animals don't have, speech, mathematical and computational intelligence, the ability to consider ourselves and our destiny, morality.
God says people have unique skills and capabilities unlike any other plants and animals, speech, mathematical and computational intelligence, the ability to consider ourselves and our destiny, morality.
Some scientists say human senses, sight, hearing, feeling, perception and rationality, display unique and very special 'mechanisms' supported by intricate inner workings in complicated organs.
God says our senses were given by God, and resemble ones God also possesses.
Some scientists say life is built around mechanisms within mechanisms within mechanisms; that life is supported by systems within systems within systems.
God says the inner workings of life are wondrous beyond explanation, and they are given so life will function while being enjoyed.
Matter and galaxies in the sky are not evenly distributed in a perfect sphere throughout the universe; they are found to clump together unevenly in certain quadrants of the sky, not evenly in every direction, according to a 'sky mapping project' documented by NOVA on public television.
Birds and elephants have hollow bones: Birds need them to reduce weight so they can fly; elephants need them to reduce their weight so can move under their own strength.
Bats locate their prey through complex echo-location; and they 'compute' where their target will be in just a few seconds, altering their own flight path to arrive at the correctly 'computed future location' of their prey as it arrives there.
Science's Laws and Limits
More than two dozen essential laws and limits, parameters, must have values falling within narrowly defined ranges for life of any kind to exist, finds Hugh Ross, PhD, summarized from his books, The Fingerprint of God and The Creator and The Cosmos, a brief list of which are:
Strong nuclear force constant: if larger, no hydrogen which is essential for life; if smaller, no elements other than hydrogen.
Weak nuclear force constant: if larger, too much hydrogen converted to helium, too much heavy element material made by star burning and no expulsion of heavy elements from stars; if smaller, too little helium produced, and too little heavy element material made by star burning and no expulsion of heavy elements from stars.
Gravitational force constant: if larger, stars would be too hot and they would burn up quickly; if smaller, stars would be too cool and nuclear fusion would not ignite and no heavy element production would occur.
Electromagnetic force constant: if larger, insufficient chemical bonding would occur; if smaller, insufficient chemical bonding would occur.
Ratio of electron mass to proton mass: if larger, insufficient chemical bonding would occur; if smaller, insufficient chemical bonding would occur. Expansion rate of the universe: if larger, no galaxy formation; if smaller, universe would collapses upon itself.
Average distance between stars: if larger, heavy element density would be too thin for rocky planets to form; if smaller, planetary orbits would become unstable.
Decay rate of the proton: if larger, life would be exterminated by the release of too much radiation; if smaller, there would insufficient matter in the universe to permit life.
Polarity of the water molecule: if larger, the heat of fusion and vaporization would be too great for life to exist; if smaller, the heat of fusion and vaporization would be too small for life to exist.
Number of stars in the planetary system: if more than one star, tidal interactions would disrupt planetary orbits; if less than one, the heat produced would too small to support life.
Oxygen percentage in the atmosphere: if larger, plants and hydrocarbons would burn up too easily; if smaller, advanced animals would have too little oxygen to support life.
The universe's components and attributes can be stated in terms of mathematical formulas and equations, or laws.
How is it that people can write these down, understand them, and use them to explain the universe, if as some scientists say, the universe itself is unintelligent, unthinking, non-computing, without a sentient nature?
Science Corroborates Bible's Accounts
The Bible tells us the great walls of Jericho fell down as a result of God's direct intervention in bringing special people into a new land, where the Lord Almighty would protect them, prosper them, help them.
Archeology finds these walls did tumble down as the Bible indicates.
Bryant G. Wood of the University of Toronto says, BIBLICAL ARCHEOLOGICAL REVIEW, March/April 1990:
When we compare the archeological evidence at Jericho with the Biblical narrative describing the Israelite destruction of Jericho, we find remarkable agreement.

The great flood spoken of in the Bible seems to have actually occurred.
The geological record for a world-wide, universal flood appears to exist according to THE GENESIS FLOOD, by Whitcomb and Morris, published by Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Bible convinces some scientists.
An archeologist, Sir William Ramsay, of the United Kingdom, set out to disprove it, but upon deeper investigation, he became convinced of the truthfulness of the Bible.
Talking about the book of Luke, he said, in The Bearing of Recent Discovery on the Trustworthiness of the New Testament:
Luke is a historian of the first rank; not merely are his statements of fact trustworthy; he is possessed of the true historic sense.
In short, this author should be placed along with the very greatest of historians.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.
